From Motown to Black Bottom, the story continues.

Kim Weston: Buried in Motown will be featured at Pulling Focus African American Film Festival on June 4, 2026, a festival dedicated to honoring the timeless legacy of Black cinema and uplifting stories from across the Black diaspora.


Founded by Gaye Shannon Burnett and Jonathan Burnett, the festival creates space for films that preserve culture, amplify truth, and reflect the Black experience through powerful storytelling.


Inspired by the life and legacy of Motown legend Kim Weston, the project explores music, survival, cultural memory, and the emotional cost of helping shape one of the most influential eras in American history.


Written and directed by Valerie Denise Jones.

Because some legends should never be forgotten.
